unquestionable character

unquestionable character

Before we dive into today’s post, I want to talk about Zara and their sales! I’ve yet to come across a retailer that does clearance/sale like Zara does. I got this striped tunic with lace detail for next to nothing annnnnnnd it just happens to be  in my favorite color.

I recently unsubscribed from a few retail newsletters and Zara is one of the few I made sure to keep because their sales are always so good!

my facial expression gives it away, I’m clearly feeling myself LOL

Enough about Zara, let’s dive into today’s post.

Over the weekend, our pastor preached an extremely powerful message entitled life Source  which I found to be divinely appointed because just a few weeks ago I started a plan on the Bible app entitled unquestionable character. Maybe God is trying to tell me something?LOL

All jokes aside, the sermon was life changing, and I feel compelled to share with you some of the gems Rev Stephen shared with us.

He started the sermon by telling the congregation to close our eyes, and proceeded to ask us a series of 10 questions which would reveal the condition of our hearts (I’ve listed a few of them below)

  1. are you mad at anyone
  2. are you waiting on someone to come to you to make things right
  3. do things come out of your mouth on a regular basis for which you constantly have to apologize
  4. have you secretly celebrated someone’s failure
  5. have you lied recently to someone you love
  6. is everything Okay in your heart

I was amazed at the simplicity of the questions yet the depth of the revelation was so profound I questioned the condition of my own dang heart.

So what lessons have I learned over the past few weeks that were amplified by Rev Stephen? That character goes beyond reputation, it is what you do when no one is watching, the motives behind your actions. It’s how you treat people when they can’t do anything for you, it’s what you say or worst think about people. It’s how you love those who are difficult to love, because it’s easy to love those who are lovable.

But most importantly it’s what comes out of your heart, because there is a direct correlation between the two.

A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart. – Luke 6:45

Let me conclude by saying this, as of today there are 343 days left in 2018. Most of us have set goals to be fit, eat better, start a business or whatever the case may be. I encourage you ( myself included) to add character to your list! None of us are perfect and we could all use a little help with our hearts.

When your heart is in the right place, your character will follow and so will your reputation.

Here’s to unquestionable character.

Until next time.
