Can I keep it real?

If there’s one thing I dislike about Neriah being in school, it’s  my inability to wake early enough to pack her school lunches.

I’ve tried packing it the night before as most organized moms do, but evenings are just as hectic as mornings at the Betts residence, and truth be told, by the time dinner is served, and kids are put to bed, decompressing is the only thing on my mind.

A little back story.

Neriah started attending school (pre-k) in August and all was well until they sent her home with the school’s monthly meal plan which included:

breakfast – sugary cereal ( cinnamon toast crunch or any other General Mills cereal)

lunch – frozen “hella” processed meats

snacks: more sugary goodness

Never been one to worry much about what my family consumed, but the older I get, the more important it is for me to eat foods that nourish my body with the nutrients it needs to function well.

In the last months, I’ve learned that eating the right foods is essential to your overall well being, exercise and hydration are other key factors but considering that the majority of your immune system is found in your gut, I’d say that food consumption is of great importance.

This is not to say that eating donuts is an extremely bad thing, but everything in moderation.

I for one like to indulge, I have a thing for cakes, and cupcakes and pies and burgers. Yeah the last one doesn’t fit, but I like a good burger. I do give in here and there, but I try to keep my and my family’s diet as clean as possible, because I know we will reap the benefits later.

Which brings me to today’s post.

I’m so thankful for moms who are concerned with the well being of children to do something about it, and Kara from EatPakd is one of them.

What is EatPakd’s mission? T o fill kids’ bellies with wholesome, homemade ingredients – free of fillers and preservatives. All of their “Paks” are designed by nutritionists and crafted by chefs, limiting sugar, sodium, and refined grains.

The Turkey & Cheese Classic Pak and the Fall Special Pak were a hit! You know what else was a hit?

Not having to struggle to come up with delicious healthy lunches for my picky eater.

Moms, there’s no shame in getting a little help from time to time, or in my case a whole lot of help. EatPakd is a game changer and if you’ve considered trying a healthy meal service for your little ones, this would be the one.

Until next time!

Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.

We’ve been making an effort to eat cleaner around these parts as well. And I totally get how hectic evenings can be. Since my kids are a little older, this task is delegated to them and I give the final approval. But I can still see how this service may be helpful on those days where I’ve forgotten to go to the grocery store. Thanks for sharing!

      Hey Rae!

Thanks for taking the time to comment and reading the post. Meal services can be a life saver for busy moms. I love that your kids are old enough to pack their own lunches. The one thing I really loved about Eatpkd is the fact that they create meals that are healthy but delicious!
