There was a time when I was younger ( much younger) where style trumped warmth, meaning I chose a cute coat that would barely keep me warm for the sake of style! I grew up in Canada; and if you’ve ever experienced Canadian winters, than you know that looking cute should be the least of your concerns! Matter of fact, recent studies have shown that Ottawa Ontario, my hometown is the 2nd coldest capital in the world.
Second! And there I was 17 years old, prancing around town in what felt like a paper thin coat for style’s sake!
When I moved to Chicago, I took solace in finding a “warmer” climate and welcomed it with open arms.
Mind you, winters in Illinois aren’t exactly hot, but compared to Ottawa, they’re a walk in the park; which brings me to today’s post.
Not only are their coats and vests my jam, they are champions in the area of minimalist style, which again is my thing.
I also have a thing for monochromatic looks, but that’s no secret ;)
Back to this jacket, the coat is not the thickest, I certainly wouldn’t recommend it for the dead of winter, especially Canadian ones. If you live in an area where winters are not too bad, than pair the jacket with your favorite sweater and you’ll be good to go.
So tell me, what’s your go-to coat for the winter, and are winters where you are as bad as they are in Canada?
Drop a line below and let me know!
Until next time.
