style hacks

Time management has not always been my forte; adding two kids to the equation certainly hasn’t helped my cause, but slowly and surely with God’s help, I’m finding ways that have enabled me to make the most of my 24 hours.

One of them is waking up at the crack of dawn, and as crazy as it may sound waking up extremely early actually helps me. I find that my days are far more productive when I wake before the rest of my family does, but I’ll share more on that in another post.

Something else that’s helped an awful lot is keeping things simple. I have  learned that simplicity is the key to sanity and I truly try to  apply it to my life all ways, always!

If you’re a mom than you know how hard it can be to get things done, it seems like the minute you start working on one thing something else comes along and throws you off course.

Earlier this month I began enumerating ways to simplify my life. I’ve got a few gems I will be sharing with you in the coming weeks, but I figured I would start with the most important one: style (sarcasm intended)

***

I don’t know about you mamas, but I’m over wearing leggings and tanks, yes my weekdays mostly consist of work but contrary to what you may see on snapchat ( @milknhonee) I’m not always at home making smoothie bowls.

My problem is, attempting to get ready to go out with small children tugging at your leg makes the task nearly impossible.

Something that should take less than an hour, turns into 3 hours.

Thankfully, I’ve found 5 style hacks every mom should try. The tips listed below are guaranteed to have you cute and ready to go in 30 minutes or less.

1. no fuss hair

See that face? That’s the face of a woman who has not combed her hair in a few months. Braids have been my “thang” as of late. I love the versatility they offer and the time they’ve saved me (15-20 min daily) to be exact. No heat no relaxer, no curling. NOTHING, NADA, ZILCH.

Don’t have braids? Worry not, buns, headwraps, low ponytails are all easy hairstyles that are simple but stylish.

2. minimal makeup

keep it minimal. I rarely wear a full face of makeup, unless it’s Sunday, then I do it for Jesus. Other than that I keep it … simple. A good lip color ( red is my go-to) and mascara.

3. effortless ensemble

I think I’ve mentioned this before but in case you’re new to the blog, I need to let you know that I’ve never been a fan of dresses. But I love them now. Why you ask, because they’re kind of an instant outfit. One piece, and voila, you’re ready to roll. I’m also a fan of rompers/jumpers, like the one pictured below from boohoo.com. One piece outfits are bae. No need to coordinate a top and bottom. #WontHedoit

4. good comfy heels

You’re going to be out, you will need  a pair of good comfortable heels! Is there such a thing you ask? Why yes, yes there is, they’re called block heels and they’re my best friend. My stiletto wearing days are a distant memory, my feet haven’t been the same since giving birth to my girls and although they’ve  returned to their normal size  my ability to  wear heels for an extended length of time has greatly diminished.

Nowadays I only wear heels on special occasions and by special occasions I mean never. LOL

In all seriousness If you’re like me and miss the instant sexy a high heel provides try a block heel.

You’re welcome.

5.confidence

Whatever you choose to wear, do it with confidence, nothing says style like a woman who wears confidence boldly.
