oh em gee!
I’ve been away for far too long and although I have a very good reason to explain my lack of blogging ( which I will explain shortly) I have to say that I’m superbly excited to be typing.
As much as I would like you to believe that I’ve been away doing glamorous things, I haven’t!
If you follow me on IG then you;ve seen me post a few pictures here and there, but my “here and there” pictures failed in comparison to my usual rate of postings.
The reason being that I was too tired to really do much of anything but stay in bed, and I WAS fighting a mysterious illness caused by my carpet.
Yeah you read that right, the carpet in our new house was making my family sick.
Who would have thunk it.
After several visits to our family doctor and different specialist ( who probaly put me on the crazy list) who always sent us home with the clean bill of health I was at my wit’s end.
I’m pretty persistent and when it comes to my health, especially my family’s I will dig until I find answers, So I prayed hard and got to googling. Clearly using google is not the best way to go when it comes checking your symptoms because you may be dying if you take into consideration all of the things Google diagnoses you with; However I’m glad I did.
What did I type in the search box that led us to our diagnosis: the answer is below:
“Is my new house making me sick”
And the answer was as clear as day! A resounding YES!!!!
Why did I type that? Because each time we left the house, we would feel so good, but the minute we came back all our symptoms came back. We knew it could not be mold because our house was inspected it before we purchased it. So what was it?
Come to find out there are many, many many new homewoners with this very same issue and I happened to be one of them.
In a strange way, this whole situation was a blessing– I was able to find a naturopathic doctor who was actually able to confirm that we had toxins in our bodies that should not be there ( thanks furry dangerous carpet) and also informed me that my family and I needed to make some changes to ur diets. So long fried chicken ( sigh)
The last few weeks were such a challenge. Between having to remove my impacted wisdom teeth ( Lord help me) losing weight for not being able to chew for 2 weeks and the carpet in our living room area, I’m grateful to God that we are on our way to recovery!
The symptoms attached to VOC’s found in carpet can be mild to severe, mine were mild. But other factors came into play like the fact that I had major surgery ( removal of 4 wisdom teeth) and that I work from home, so I was in this house a lot more than anyone else.
I would vaccuum the carpet in hopes to clear up its shedding but unbeknownst to me I was actually making my situation worst. I wondered why I always felt worst afterwards LOL
Alhtough the reaction to the toxins in my body were partly brought on by the evil carpet. Some of it was also brought on by my not so fab diet.
I have pretty much been eating whatever I wanted because why not? I have a fast metabolism so weight gain ain’t a thing right?
All this to say that we’ve got to me mindful of what we put in our bodies as we are essentially what we eat.
To know me is to know that I have NEVER been one to be too concerned with my eating habits. I am now.
And because we go through experiences in life to share our testimonies with others I wanted to share with you.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” – Hosea 4:6
I’ve made some drastic changes to my and the kids’ diet and I will be sharing them with you in upcoming posts.
Certainly not how I planned to start 2016, but with these tools in hand it can only get better.
With that being said, it’s good to be back ;)
Until next time.
