So here we are, thirteen days into 2016 and I am finally sharing my first post of the year * hides face in shame*
I hope that all of you rang in the new year fabulously and I HOPE that this year is everything you’ve prayed for it to be!
It’s been a while since I last shared an outfit post and I felt that it would be “fitting to share with you one of my goals this year as it pertains to my wardrobe.
I’ve written a slew of things I want to work on when it comes to my personal style, but the main one is simple. It’s all about simplifying my closet.
We recently moved and we all know that moving requires a ton of packing. It is then that I realized that I had too many clothes that I hadn’t even considered wearing… in years! They were carefully tucked in my ” just in case pile”. You know the clothes you tuck in the back of your closet in case you wear them but you know dang well you won’t! Yeah… that pile!
I’ve donated a ton and I’m now left with staples I can work with some of which I’m wearing today.
If you’re looking to simplify your closet this year here are four simple tips that worked for me. SN: still working on number three.
1-Pick a day ( preferably during the weekend) and do what I like to call a thorough closet audit. Take stuff out, give it to charity, sale it online , swap with your girlfriends, just get it out of your closet. If you forgot you had it, get rid of it. Chances are you won’t wear it anyway.
2- When shopping, make a mental note of items you already have. Doing so will stop you from making duplicate purchases.
3- This goes hand in hand with number two and I’m guilty of having done this in the past. The past being last week; but one is enough! No need to have three pairs of black denim jeans.
4- Don’t buy it if you don’t need it. SN: I’m still a work in progress – pray for me.
